Today’s dawn harvest : almost a pound of Black Valentine and Royal Burgundy beans.

A few hours later they are steamed , mixed with chopped (unsun) dried tomatoes, garlic, walnuts, sunflower seeds, black pepper, lemon juice and olive oil.

After a few hours chilling (because it’s 102 degrees (F) here today) this will be my main meal today.

I will eat them along with slices of chilled Hopi Blue corn polenta made from freshly ground kernels of a real good harvest of Hopi blue corn a few years back.

As with any good feast - and it is a traditional feast day in the country I find myself waking up in today - there will be leftovers.
