When life gives you science fiction rock ‘n roll, listen to Jimi

All day a demonic wind has been sandblasting a wildfire invitation, a hot, dry breath from the devil’s own furnace, until, suddenly, at dusk the wind drops. Everything softens into a Jimi Hendrix purple haze.

Excuse me while I kiss the sky.

Purple haze all in my brain. It’s wrap around liminal light, numinous with a deep quiet, such a softness…shhhh….

Barefoot in the front garden, lured by luminosity, I stalk the day, trying to catch the moment it crosses the threshold into night. Moonflowers light the way. (Sacred datura - Datura wrightii)

This enchanted life. It’s vast. Panoramic. Here. Have it. Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time?

Purple Haze
Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things, they don't seem the same
Acting funny, but I don't know why
'Scuse me while I kiss the sky
Purple haze all around
Don't know if I'm coming up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
Whatever it is, that girl put a spell on me
Help me! Help me!
Ah no, no
Yeah! Purple haze all in my eyes
Don't know if it's day or night
You got me blowing, blowing my mind
Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time?…
Jimi Hendrix, first released as a single March 1967, and on the album Are You Experienced (1967)

Tangential biographical factoid:

In January 2002, on the first birthday I had in the United States

I took a ferry across the Puget Sound in the Salish Sea to Seattle to visit the Experience Music Project, which has subsequently evolved into the MoPop (Museum of Popular Culture)

Yes, I am experienced.
Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time?
