Chile pepper harvest has begun.
The Milagro Pepper Patch yielded half a pound of Serrano and Havasu peppers today.
This is my first time growing Serrano peppers which are apparently hotter than Jalapeños. These are destined for apple cider vinegar pickling today, as this seems to be a nice quart jar amount.
Another first for me, Havasu promises to be a slightly milder Sante Fe chile. These four will probably be part of a stirfry with Back Forty greens, garlic and Forbidden Rice.
I could let the fruit stay longer on the plants, but it’s early in the season. I want to encourage more flowering for continual harvest.
