Madame X the mystery melon

This beautiful swelling lady was discovered on the edge of the Milagro Cornfield.

She looks remarkably like what I know as Spanspek but which others might call Cantaloupe or Muskmelon.

Trouble is I don’t remember planting Cucumis melo var. cantalupo.

I had, in my seed stash, an old 2014 packet of C. Moschata from called Seminole pumpkin (Winter squash and pumpkin)

These old seeds were distributed under corn around the garden, front and back. Madame X the mystery melon doesn’t look like Seminole pumpkins to me. However I could be proven wrong.

The Milagro Cornfield area has not previously been cultivated for food that i know of. The organic matter which I added was horse manure collected from the Winston area.

I wait and watch with interest.
