Today’s archaeological find, digging in the Back Forty. A glass bottle stopper.
A little applied research yielded that this possibly dates from the 1880s, and would have been a stopper for a H. J. Heinz 57 sauce bottle. It is in beautiful condition.
Appropriate on a day when I sowed what felt like a million different seeds: Japonica corn, sweet potatoes, blue potatoes, Hopi Red Dye amaranth, Love Lies Bleeding amaranth, callaloo, Royal Burgundy bush beans, marigolds, Mexican sunflowers, cosmos, sunflowers, white onions, gladiolus, rhubarb....Not quite 57 varieties of seed sown today, but getting there.
In return, an affirmation, another little treasure to add to my bowl of gifts from the earth.
