Taking the measure of a storm

I bought a rain gauge this week.

Now I know that, if this device is accurate, the sunset storm last night gave 0.2 inches to the Garden of Earthly Delights.

There are other ways to measure monsoon season gifts, though.

Noah’s emissary preening atop the electric pole against a backdrop of double rainbow for example.

Everywhere a brief beautiful luminosity: gift of the monsoon season, magic of desert living.

When science and the numinous converge: that’s what a garden is.

Sometimes.

I think.

It made up for cloud cover obscuring the full moon rise.
