Turtleback Mountain kept watch over first Sierra County Farmers Market of the season as the temperatures slowly climbed to a searing 97 degrees by closing time.
It’s gonna be a smokin’ hot season at market this year. Grateful for the shady trees and new grass in the refreshed park.

I had to sacrifice that to volunteer in market management. Kinda sad about that.
The first money I earned in the USA was at farmer’s markets in Kitsap County, in Washington state. It took 18 months before any employer would take a chance on my professional qualifications and experience and that insightful hiring officer was a returned peace corps volunteer who had served in west Africa so had a slightly adjusted perspective on the map of the world.
