Manna from the desert

Sweet desert nectar. I collected 7 lbs of little local apricots from a neighbour this morning.

Excalibur, the dehydrator, is loaded up with four full trays and humming away.

I know I could probably just set trays on the flat roof section of the hacienda for real low tech, passive solar dehydration, but I'm not quite set up with screens for desert dust and bugs. And Excalibur was getting dusty.

Don't need a crystal ball to predict dried apricots in my winter pantry.

If they last that long. Dried apricots are very tempting snacks.

This same neighbor’s orchard promises plums soon. Squirreling to be continued.
