It doesn't bring much rain to the post summer garden, but an exquisite luminosity attends a sunset thunderstorm over Turtleback Mountain in the Caballo range.

It is a Renaissance grand master's chiaroscuro articulated by a forest of sunflower seedheads which is all that really remains of this long, hot, dry summer's front garden display.

Birds really love this stage of garden. Their busy feasting scatters the seeds of next year's blooming.
