Celebrating with water birds

Little Yoni, Janis truck and I got to spend a few hours at Lake Caballo on my birthday .

The water and sky were filled with birds.

In search of pelicans, we paddled and paddled toward a white huddle on a distant sand spit. It was a flock of gulls.

The one legged heron watched it all, unperturbed from a no wake bollard.

Last light turned the lake into a Rorschach test.

It wasn’t the Kerala beach birthday I had planned, but it was still a day full of gifts of Chihuahuan desert style sun, sand, sky and water
