Hot August nights mean it’s high season for little biting gnats who swarm my face in the dawn and dusk hours. My homemade essential oil bug spray just isn’t proving effective enough.
This week I capitulated and bought an insect net to wear over my head/hat so I can still enjoy the liminal times, sitting on my bench watching the light come up on the day.
Now I can work slightly more comfortably in the cool of early mornings as well.
It will also work for the bug problems of dawn paddles. If the lakes, which currently have drastically reduced hours of opening due to Covid, ever open early enough for dawn paddling again.
